Joshua Lipana: First off, what prompted you to run for congress?

Stephen Bailey: I’ve always been interested in politics as an armchair observer and commentator. However, the decision to run began in late 2008 when the TARP bailout legislation was first brought to a vote. I was on a business trip in Europe and celebrated when the bill was defeated. When Congress and President Bush signed the TARP bailout two weeks later, against the wishes of the American public, it initiated the chain of events that led to the creation of the Tea Party movement and my resolve to not allow my country, my freedom and my families freedom to be destroyed. The resolve accelerated over the next year as President Obama and the Democrats rammed one tyrannical bill after another down our throats, engorging themselves and their political cronies in an orgy of spending that is bankrupting America. Excerpt: CO Democrats are egregiously misrepresenting Stephen Bailey’s views regarding entitlements. Bailey even predicted it would happen. These attack mailers wrongly imply that Bailey wants to cut off Social Security and Medicare for seniors.

It is true that Bailey compared Social Security to a Ponzi scheme — a comparison that is warranted. It is also true that Bailey wants to put

”the current program on a sounder financial basis to support current retirees”

– yet for some reason the Democrats neglected to quote that line. read article….

EAGLE COUNTY, Colorado — Republican Stephen Bailey might be running for a seat that hasn’t been anything other than Democratic in more than 40 years, but that’s not slowing down his will to win.

While Bailey is running against U.S. Rep. Jared Polis, the sixth richest member of Congress who is willing to spend plenty of his own money on his campaign, there’s more to a campaign than just money, Bailey said.

Outside of just the 2nd Congressional District, Bailey feels corruption is a huge problem in Congress, and Republicans need to address it immediately or else they’ll risk earning back the trust of the American people.

Bailey said one way to start is by eliminating earmarks and massive legislative bills that include “everything but the kitchen sink,” he said.

Conventional wisdom suggests that Congressman Jared Polis enjoys a “safe” Democratic seat in the U.S. House of Representatives and will easily win reelection this November. Maybe so, but these are not ordinary times and Stephen Bailey, his Republican opponent, appears to have gained some traction among independent voters.

Polis is a dependable lock-step Obamacrat who voted in favor of nearly every liberal cause cobbled together over the past several years. The various bailouts, stimulus programs, and unknown costs associated with health insurance reform he voted for have all contributed to putting our nation in severe economic peril.

Conventional wisdom doesn`t always prevail. If voters want to get off the tax and spend and deficit expanding fast track they have an extremely credible choice by voting for Stephen Bailey. As you might suspect, I fully support and have contributed to his candidacy. Read more…

US 2nd Congressional District voters have a clear choice in November. The differences between incumbent Jared Polis and challenger Stephen Bailey are substantial.

Some aspects of Polis’ record are commendable. Others are far from exemplary. Although he would shift the blame to “eight long years of failed economic policies” “Longmont Times-Call, Q&A With Candidates, 11 October 2010), Polis owns the current economic crisis, along with Obama, Reid and Pelosi, by his support for Cap and Trade, Obamacare and the Stimulus.

Polis claims, in the same Q&A, that “we are finally moving forward”. Really?! Toward what? Toward how much more intractable high unemployment? Toward how many more people forced onto food stamps instead of bringing home paychecks? Toward how long while businesses are unable to make plans without coherent federal tax policy? Toward how many more regulations piled on our backs by confessedly Marxist “czars”? Toward how much more lip from progressives like Regulatory Czar Cass Sunstein, who thinks we are as dumb as Homer Simpson and are therefore easily manipulated (“nudged”) into approved behaviors?
